FAQ
Everything You Want to Know
About your saffron, your order, and how to make the most of every thread.
All our saffron is Super Negin grade — the highest classification in the ISO 3632 standard. Super Negin threads are long, fully red, stigma-only filaments with no yellow style attached, giving the highest crocin (color), safranal (aroma), and picrocrocin (flavour) ratings possible.
Our saffron is hand-harvested exclusively from the Kashmir Valley, India — one of the world's most prized saffron-growing regions. Each batch is traced back to a single harvest season, and we print the harvest year on every jar so you always know exactly what you're getting.
Every batch undergoes third-party lab testing against ISO 3632 standards before we pack it. We test for crocin (≥ 250 colour strength), safranal (20–50 aroma), and picrocrocin (≥ 70 flavour). A certificate of analysis is available on request. You can also do a simple home test — genuine saffron threads release a slow golden hue in warm water; they do not bleed instantly or turn red.
A little goes a very long way. For a serving of 4, you need roughly 20–30 threads (about 0.1g). Steep them in 2–3 tablespoons of warm water or milk for 15 minutes before adding to your recipe — this blooms the colour and aroma without wasting a single thread.
Stored correctly, Saffronoor retains full potency for up to 2 years. Keep it in the sealed UV-protected glass jar, away from direct light, heat, and moisture. A cool, dark cupboard works perfectly — the fridge is fine too, just make sure the jar is airtight so it doesn't absorb other aromas.
The Essential (5g) is ideal if you cook with saffron occasionally — a few times a month. The Select (10g) suits regular home cooks and comes with free shipping. The Grand (15g) is our best value and includes a luxury gift box, making it perfect for serious cooks or as a premium gift. At roughly 0.1g per dish, a 5g jar yields about 50 servings.
Yes — free standard shipping is included on all orders of $89 or more (the Select and Grand packs both qualify automatically). Orders below $89 have a flat $5.99 shipping fee. We ship within 1–2 business days, and domestic delivery typically takes 3–5 business days.
We stand behind every jar we send. If you're unhappy for any reason — wrong product, quality concern, or just changed your mind — contact us within 30 days of delivery and we'll make it right with a full refund or replacement, no questions asked.
